2019-20 Season Wrap-Up

Season Wrap up and Review:
The 2019-2020 skimo season started off strong with the Youth Olympic Games selections at Eldora, which also included the Sprint National Championships!

Jan and Feb were full of many races around the country, as well as the Youth Olympic Games in Switzerland!
The Teams National Championship was at Aspen, the Youth National Championships were at Brighton and the Individual and Vertical Nationals were at Big Sky.

Sadly, due to Covid-19, our race season was cut short by USSMA/ISMF and many races were cancelled. But that just fuels the fire for next season!

2021 World Championships:
Work is under way to review the team selection process, identify qualification venues, and determine what the team should look like going forward. Updates to come…
2022 World Cup:

Exciting news! The ISMF and many other nations staff and athletes are asking for the US to hold a world cup race.
In support of international growth and the path to skimo becoming an Olympic sport, the USSMA is working to determine the feasibility a World Cup in the US. The key is finding an existing race venue with a solid organizing committee / race director that can pull off a great race and also handle the large financial side of it. More to come on this in the coming months!

Athlete Advisory Committee:
We are working to compile international race information to provide for ussma members looking to race overseas!
We will be sending out an end of the season survey for all USSMA members to give us feedback. Athlete race feedback will be funneled to race directors.
